IRIS 4.0 Featured by MicDaily

An Editorial Selection

IRIS 4.0 was featured as a weekly selection on MicDaily, the design platform curated by MicLance Innovation.

The feature shares the project with an international design audience. It is an editorial selection rather than a design award.

Iris AI Assistant Device designed by Formeta Design for smart homes

IRIS 4.0

AI Assistant Device Concept

Client: Formeta Vision. Status: Concept study.

IRIS 4.0 is a smart home assistant concept that explores placing a connected device on the ceiling. The elevated position keeps the unit clear of objects on tables and shelves while bringing sound, lighting and home control into a central location.

A fabric-covered enclosure gives the cylindrical form a softer presence in the room. The proposal investigates spatial sound and ambient lighting as part of the same object, rather than separate devices occupying different surfaces.

IRIS is a product design exploration into the form and position of emerging home technology. Its capabilities describe a concept direction, not a released consumer specification.

Designlogger Private Beta

Project Phases, Assets and Decisions

Designlogger grew out of a recurring need at Formeta Design: keeping project phases, files and decisions connected as product development becomes more complex.

The system organises development into phases and brings assets and decision records into a shared structure. It connects with the tools teams already use rather than replacing every part of their workflow.

Access for Invited Teams

The January 2026 announcement introduced Designlogger in private beta for invited external teams. Visit designlogger.com for current access information.

The platform is also part of Formeta Design’s own delivery workflow.

Visiting Dubai Design Week

Downtown Design and Dubai Design District

Downtown Design

Our visit to Dubai Design Week took us through Downtown Design and Dubai Design District, known as d3.

Downtown Design brought international brands, studios and new products together in a temporary waterfront pavilion. It offered a concentrated setting for seeing work and speaking with people from across the industry.

Dubai Design District

Outside the fair, d3 showed a different side of the programme. Studios, galleries and installations connected the event with the district’s everyday activity.

Together, the two settings provided a useful view of how exhibitions and an established creative district can support each other.

Reflections from Singapore Design Week 2025

Design, Business and Place

Formeta Design visited Singapore Design Week 2025 and attended the World Design Business Forum.

The programme offered a view of how design contributes to Singapore’s identity, its public spaces and its businesses. Moving between the festival’s districts also revealed different settings for design practice across the city.

At the forum, conversations connected design with business decisions and international collaboration. We thank the Design Business Chamber Singapore, DesignSingapore Council and iSee Taiwan Foundation for the invitation.

These exchanges inform how we approach product development for teams working across markets.

Every Form, a Letter. Every Product, a Word.

Formeta Design’s Visual Identity

Every form, a letter. Every product, a word.

This line became the starting point for Formeta Design’s visual identity. As the studio’s work expanded across products, interfaces and editorial publishing, we needed a system that could connect these different settings.

Connecting the Studio’s Work

Our work spans physical products, interfaces and editorial publishing. The identity connects these settings through a consistent visual structure.

A Shared Visual Structure

The phrase “Every form, a letter. Every product, a word.” guides how individual forms contribute to a larger visual language.

The Iconography Grid

A custom iconography grid gives the identity a shared structure. Symbols represent services and ideas, while the same visual logic carries across the website, presentations, printed material and internal tools.

Across Print and Digital

The same structure appears on the website, in presentations, in printed material and in the studio’s internal tools.

A System That Can Grow

The system provides consistency without requiring every application to look identical. It can develop alongside the studio and the work we produce.

Carryfix Distribution Partnerships

For Museum Shops, Cultural Events and Design Stores

Carryfix is a portable handle designed by Formeta Design to bring bag handles together in one grip. We developed, produced and packaged the product through our own resources.

The design reflects a series of decisions about use, form and manufacturing. We wanted an everyday object that also invites curiosity about how it is made.

We welcome enquiries from museum shops, cultural events and design stores interested in bulk orders or distribution partnerships. Individual retail orders are not handled directly by the studio.

Contact Formeta Design to discuss a collaboration.

Design for Industry 4.0

A Panel with the Turkish Design Foundation

Formeta Design joined a panel on “Design for Industry 4.0” at the invitation of the Turkish Design Foundation.

Using examples from our work, we discussed how industrial design now extends beyond the physical enclosure. Interfaces, digital interactions and complementary elements all influence the way a product is understood and used.

The discussion focused on the coordination this requires between design disciplines. We thank the foundation and everyone who joined the conversation.
