Design Approach
The strap combines a secure attachment with an electrical continuity path. Metal locking contacts hold the strap against backward movement while completing the connection between the strap and PCB. When the strap is cut, the interrupted connection allows the system to detect the event and trigger an alarm.
Bringing this connection through the enclosure made sealing a central design challenge. The final product achieved IP65 protection. Contact surfaces and a specially sourced coating were considered alongside repeated cleaning with strong disinfectants and prolonged skin contact. Our industrial design work coordinated these physical requirements with Borda’s technical team.
